In the world of technology commercialization, "novel" is a double-edged sword. We are encouraged to innovate to generate real change. However, standards, regulations and culture create deeply entrenched tools and processes. You need the support of internal champions to help guide the adoption of new technology and overcome this inertia.

For many organizations, the current system (even if slow and expensive) feels safe because it is predictable, and the risk is known and its allocation already baked in. The Technology Gap is a known cost. Replacing that gap with something new requires a shift in the collective psyche of a company.
In the world of industrial safety, it requires moving from Reactive Compliance (we checked because we had to) to Proactive Management (we checked because we could). It is an attitude that comes with embracing the fact the only constant in technology commercialization - is change!

The difficulty of adoption usually stems from three areas:
๐ง๐ฟ๐๐๐ (in the capability): In high-stakes environments like nuclear, defense or heavy manufacturing, trust is earned in decades, not days. To achieve early adoption (relatively speaking) new tech has to prove it is twice as good while being twice as simple in order to overcome this.
๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: It is not enough for a tool to work; it usually has to fit into a technology architecture that already exists. companies need to understand their products will likely need to run in parallel with existing protocols and prove their worth before playing a leading role. Innovation needs to be a bridge, not an island.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ป๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด: Perhaps the biggest irony is that new technology can remove the protection of old processes and highlight new challenges. This requires a level of transparency that organizations must be culturally ready to embrace. In reality, the sooner you recognize a challenge the sooner you can overcome it.
