CodeNu Rapid Nuclear Contamination Screening
Rapid wipe-based contamination screening designed to support operational decision-making across industrial, defense, nuclear, emergency response, occupational hygiene, and critical infrastructure environments.
Why do you need this capability?
In many real-world situations, organisations are not trying to replace laboratory analysis. They are trying to manage uncertainty as effectively as possible using the tools immediately available to them. Laboratory analysis remains essential, but many operational environments require faster contamination awareness than traditional laboratory workflows alone can provide.
Maintenance activity, emergency response operations, contamination investigations, alarm resolution events, occupational hygiene programs, and field deployments often require practical screening tools capable of supporting faster operational decisions under uncertain conditions.
These products are for commercial use, B2B and government.
How CodeNu works
CodeNu uses wipe-based colorimetric screening to help identify potential uranium and plutonium contamination directly within operational environments.
The wipe is used on a suspected surface or area and then observed for color change. More soluble compounds generally produce faster and more distinctive reactions, although wipes should be observed for up to 15 minutes before final interpretation.
CodeNu is designed to support practical field screening where rapid contamination awareness may help guide operational decisions.
Where zinc, galvanized materials, or heavily oxidized copper surfaces are expected, CodeNu dry wipes are generally recommended as they eliminate or significantly reduce the likelihood of background reactions. Strong acids and strong alkaline substances may also interfere with the chemistry and reduce product performance.
What does this detect? Uranium metal, nitrate, UO2, uranyl carbonate, uranium acetate, yellowcake, UF4, uranium hydroxide, processed uranium ore and plutonium.

Choosing the right wipe format
Dry wipes are generally better suited to rugged field environments, personnel screening, clothing checks, oxidized surfaces, and galvanized materials where durability and flexibility are important.
Wet wipes are typically preferred on smoother or less porous surfaces where maximum material pickup and surface contact are desired.

CodeNu Wet Wipes
-
Open
Wear your PPE before opening the wipes and entering the testing area. Carefully open the wipe packet and extract the wipe.
-
Wipe
Thoroughly cleanse the identified surface three times and await the results. Observe the cloth for any significant color change; a change in color indicates a positive result.
-
Discard
It's important to properly dispose of the wipe to ensure environmental safety and compliance with local regulations. Always check your local waste management guidelines to determine the correct disposal method.

Beth Walker, Director"Valuable for those times when you need to demonstrate compliance of an area without having to wait for lab results. Giving the tools to understand the risk level immediately removes the need for worst case thinking".
